Celebrating the life of a remarkable man—Robert (Bob) Key Jr., born August 22, 1943 to the parentage of Robert Key, Sr. and Erma Lee Jones. He was blessed with 4 Sisters, Eula, Revia, Shurrine, and Janet (deceased). Our hearts are so heavy with grief, but they are also filled with gratitude for the time we had with him.
He was more than just a husband, father, and friend—he was a light in so many lives. If you ever had the pleasure of knowing him, you know he never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, about anything, and before you knew it, you felt like you had known him forever. His warmth, kindness, and humor made everyone feel welcome.
He spent 48 wonderful years married to the love of his life, Veeta. Their love was a testament to commitment, laughter, and unwavering support. They built a life together filled with cherished memories, and that love will live on forever.
He had a passion for fishing, music, and simply enjoying the beauty of life. He also loved to cook, and if you ever had the chance to taste one of his meals, you know it was made with love. Cooking was one of his ways of bringing people together, filling not just stomachs, but hearts. Whether he was grilling outside or preparing a homemade dish, he found joy in sharing good food with the people he cared about.
While today we feel the deep pain of his absence, we also celebrate the incredible life he lived. His legacy isn’t just in the stories we tell or the memories we share—it’s in the love, kindness, and laughter he left behind. He made the world a better place simply by being in it, and that impact will never fade.
So, as we gather here today, let’s not say goodbye, but instead, see you later. Let’s honor Bob the way he would want us to—by loving a little deeper, laughing a little louder, enjoying a good meal, and never hesitating to start a conversation with a stranger. Let’s carry his spirit with us, knowing that his love and light will always be a part of us.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted me now, He’s set me free!
He leaves in honor of his life his faithful wife, Veeta, his 3 Sisters, his children, James Williams, J. Sanders, Larissa Sandlin, his beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
